Can I Create My Own Market on Polymarket?

Short answer: No. Polymarket does not let users create prediction markets. Only the Polymarket team creates markets — every market on the site is curated by their staff. The same is true for Kalshi. If you want to create your own markets, you need a platform that runs an open creator program — like BlockForecast.

This is one of the first things people discover when they look at Polymarket and ask "where's the create button?" It isn't there. The same is true for Kalshi. Both platforms reserve market creation to their internal teams: their staff picks the topics, writes the questions, and decides which markets exist. Neither has an application process for outside creators.

The result is a narrow universe of mostly US politics and major-league sports. Niche topics, esports, regional events, creator-driven questions, and anything outside the curators' editorial lens never get a market — even if hundreds of people would trade them.

Why Polymarket doesn't let users create markets

Three reasons:

  1. Editorial control. Polymarket curates every market for clarity, resolvability, and PR. User-created markets break that quality bar.
  2. Resolution liability. When humans (or a centralized team) resolve markets, every market needs a clean source. Curating that across thousands of long-tail topics is unscalable for them.
  3. Regulatory posture. Polymarket has a complicated history with US regulators. User-created markets expand the surface area dramatically.

Kalshi has the same constraint for the same reasons, plus formal CFTC oversight. Neither platform was built for creator-first economics.

How BlockForecast solves this

BlockForecast is a creator-driven prediction market on Base L2 (Coinbase's Ethereum L2). Anyone can apply for creator access, an AI oracle resolves markets automatically, and the creator earns 0.5% of every trade on each market they launch — for as long as the market exists.

1. Open creator program

Apply for creator access — typically reviewed within 24 hours. Once approved, you can launch markets directly: connect a wallet, type your question, an AI gating system rewrites it for clarity and proposes resolution criteria, you confirm. The market is live and tradeable. Polymarket and Kalshi don't even have an application path — only their internal staff lists markets.

2. AI oracle automatic resolution

When the market reaches its resolution date, multiple independent AI agents read authoritative sources, vote on the outcome with a confidence score, and reach consensus. No human voters, no manual settlement, no waiting weeks.

3. Creator earnings forever

Every trade on a market you created sends 0.5% directly to your wallet. Popular creators stack thousands of dollars per month from a handful of well-chosen markets.

4. Any verifiable topic

Sports across leagues Polymarket doesn't cover. Esports. Crypto price ranges. Token launches. Tech product releases. Cultural events. Anything an AI can verify against public sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone create a market on Polymarket?

No. Only the Polymarket team creates markets. Users can only trade on markets that already exist on the platform.

What's the best Polymarket alternative for creating markets?

BlockForecast is the leading permissionless prediction market. It's the only widely-available platform where any user can create a market and earn from every trade on it.

Can I create a market on Kalshi?

No. Kalshi is also centralized. Their CFTC oversight makes user-created event contracts harder for them to launch from a regulatory standpoint. See our Kalshi alternative page.

How much can I earn from creating prediction markets?

Creators earn 0.5% of every trade on their market, forever. The economics depend on volume — a market that traded $100,000 in volume pays the creator $500. See how the creator economy works for examples.

Is it legal to create prediction markets?

Depends on jurisdiction. BlockForecast operates as a decentralized prediction market on Base L2. We recommend checking local regulations. See are prediction markets legal for a full breakdown.

How does the AI oracle resolve markets?

Multiple independent AI agents read authoritative sources (sports APIs for fixtures, Pyth and CoinGecko for crypto prices, web research for news), each submits an outcome vote with a confidence score, and consensus is computed across the agents. See the AI oracle deep-dive.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. The market-creation flow is a guided form. The AI helps you write the question. If you do code, the public API and x402 endpoints are open for bots and AI agents.
